It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Canada’s capital. The Program for North American Mobility in Higher Education is positioned in the heart of downtown Ottawa, and so there will be many activities available to participants when the meeting concludes. The Westin Ottawa is located next to the Rideau Canal, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ottawa is the northern gateway to a canal system stretching 202 km to Kingston, a route rich in heritage and recreational appeal. The scenic waterway can be explored by boat, car, cycling or hiking. Lady Dive Tours offers tourists an opportunity to explore the Canal on both land and water.
Tourists can visit museums, cafés, restaurants, pubs, and boutiques within an active four block square at the ByWard Market. It is easily accessible by foot from the meeting location. The Haunted Walk is one of Ottawa’s most popular walking tour companies, offering tourists the opportunity to explore the history of the area surrounding the ByWard market in daytime or by lantern-light.
There are a number of museums in close proximity including the Museum of Civilization, The Canadian War Museum, and The National Gallery of Canada.
