European Union Exchange Opportunities
‘Civil Society Educational Network’ (CSEN) is a three-year program that sends Canadian students to the European Union to study the complex and changing nature of civil society. Twenty five upper year students from Carleton University, McGill University and the University of Winnipeg will be selected to study at one of the three partner universities in the European Union. Students will be able to enhance their skills and experience in the area of civil society and increase their opportunity to pursue careers and higher education in the field.
Program highlights
- A total of 50 student exchanges will take place between 2008 and 2011. 25 of these students will be from Carleton University, McGill University and the University of Winnipeg and study in Germany, Italy or the United Kingdom.
- Successful Carleton, McGill and University of Winnipeg student applicants will be awarded a $ 4,000 (CAN$) stipend.
Please Note
- If you wish to apply for this program please complete and submit the application form (further below) by October 13 2009.
- It is important to note that you do not need to select actual courses at this time. Students selected to participate on the exchange will work in consultation with the CVSRD Exchange Coordinator and the student’s home Department to select appropriate courses and pursue credit approval.
- General information on the courses is noted below, however further information (syllabi) will be provided after selection into the program.
- A selection of courses related to civil society is offered in English. However, if you wish to take courses in the native language (Italian or German) you will be required to have an intermediate comprehension level or higher.
- We will consider applicants from a wide variety of academic disciplines. The selection will be based on your academic record, active interest in civil society, approval by your home Department and eligibility criteria as noted on the application form.
- Tuition is paid to Carleton University and the exchange duration is for one semester
