Managing Volunteer Resources

In communities across Canada, almost 12 million Canadians regularly volunteer their time, skills, and energy to help their neighbours and friends by providing palliative care, getting involved in advocacy campaigns, driving people to appointments, coaching a local sports team, and raising money for their church, among other ways. This shared experience touches all aspects of life and makes societies stronger and healthier.

Our work in this area focuses on understanding the characteristics and motivations of volunteering and exploring systems and strategies for non-profit and voluntary organizations to work with volunteers. Key work in this area has involved research on volunteerism as well as consultancy services for organizations wishing to improve their volunteer management practices.
