First National Study of Non-Profit Board Governance Practices : This first national study of board governance practices in the Canadian non-profit and voluntary sector was conducted in 2005 by Strategic Leverage Partners Inc. (SLP) in partnership with the Centre for Voluntary Sector Research and Development (CVSRD), a joint research unit of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. The goal was to produce a study that would represent a unique database of Canadian non-profit board governance practices that could be shared by non-profit and voluntary organizations across sub-sectors throughout the country. http://www.cvsrd.org/eng/board_governance/index.html

Institute on Governance : The Institute On Governance (IOG) is a non-profit organization with charitable status founded in 1990 to promote effective governance.
