Network Development

The increase of, and interest in, developing networks has grown exponentially—both in Canada and internationally. Facilitated by rapid changes in technology, non-profit and voluntary organizations are increasingly exploring opportunities for information sharing and collaboration with like-minded or like-interested organizations both within the sector, and with other sectors. Network development is about building relationships to share and learn from each other and to rally around a common goal or concern.

Our work in this area focuses on understanding how networks can build connection, cohesion, and capacity within voluntary organizations and the voluntary sector as a whole. In particular, we have undertaken several studies on network development and mapping, delivered workshops and seminars, and practice network development through our involvement as the secretariat of the Canadian Federation of Voluntary Sector Networks.
